Head Coach Tony Fonseca
Coach Tony has had an extensive soccer career. Beginning at a young age, Tony played as a youth in the recreational and youth club level. When Tony reached the age of 17, Tony was recruited to play in the Men’s premier division. When the Manitoba Super Soccer Alliance, Manitoba’s top men’s soccer league was created, Tony played a number of years playing for teams such as Luso, Portuguese Association and Croatia United. Tony continued to play for many years, in the top men’s leagues, retiring due to injury, at the age of 39.
As Tony’s playing career was ending, Tony’s coaching career was beginning. As a father of three, Tony began coaching his children at the developmental ages. Tony coached his daughters and his son, from the ages of 9 to 12, starting at Bonivital, back in 2011. As a developmental coach, Tony has had tremendous success, winning different tournaments and league championships. In fact, Tony won the Golden Boy tournament with 4 different male youth teams, consecutively, 4 years in a row. He added a fifth title with his daughter’s team. After coaching his children, Tony continued to coach at Bonivital, in the youth premier leagues, coaching both female and male teams. Tony continued to have success, with a MSA championship in 2023, with the U17 Premier One boys team.
Tony, now takes on a new challenge by coaching the women’s team. Many of his former youth players are rejoining Tony, hoping to emulate their success at the developmental and premier ages.
